    Advanced Batteries and Accumulators

    Fall 2007 ~ Interface ~ page 57 ~ European Section

    The ECS sponsored meeting, "Advanced Batteries and Accumulators" (ABA) took place in Brno, Czech Republic, June 3-6, 2007. It was the eighth annual meeting on a broad range of topics beyond primary and secondary batteries. It covered nanosized or layered materials, novel solid or polymeric conductors, and intercalation materials with application in the research and development of batteries, electrocatalysts for fuel cells, and other industrial applications for special electro-technical components. The meeting had 94 registered participants, and 65 presentations, with more than two-thirds given as posters.

    This was the inaugural year of the Brno ECS Student Section, and all student members presented posters from their research work. Peter Barath gave presentations about the activities of the activities of the Brno Student Section. Petr Vanýsek, Secretary of ECS, was on hand, and he welcomed the members of European Section as well as nonmembers, and gave them an update on the state of the Society.

    The next meeting in Brno is scheduled for June 29 - July 3, 2008.
